Compression molding is one of the effective processing methods of polyester. This method is relatively fast, can be automated, and generates less waste. Sheet molding compound (SMC) is a collection of resin. Glass fiber, thickener, mold release agent, pigment and catalyst are integrated to minimize the damage of glass fiber. Adding a thermoplastic low-shrinkage additive can improve the appearance of the surface. A successfully developed SMC system that can be cured in 30 seconds and has A-level finish. Polyester can be used to make exterior parts of automobile bodies, such as engine hoods and luggage compartment covers. SMC can also make automobile dashboards, headlight covers and rear wheel covers. Other grades of SMC can process distribution switches, fuse holders and street lamp shades for bathtubs, washing tubs, waste pools and electrical parts. Premix and prefabricated integral molding compound (BMC) are in. A dough-like material made in a blade mixer. It can be molded into washing tubs, dishes, suitcases, equipment shells and electrical parts. Injection molding is the most effective processing method for polyester. Compared with SMC compression molding, it can be more automated, and the product performance is more uniform, the curing time is short, and the processing cost is low. TMCQ (Thick Molded Plastic) injection molding can not only make electrical parts, but also produce automobile body parts. BMC will damage the glass fiber when the Σ-shaped blade is mixed, and TMC can minimize this damage. Manual laying or spraying operations are used to make large parts, such as boats. It is also used for short-term production to avoid the use of expensive metalworking molds. The laminating resin is added with accelerator and has thixotropy. The application of thixotropic agent (gas-process carbon black or organic clay) allows the processing plant to apply the resin to the vertical mold surface without the risk of flowing before the gel. Laminating resins with low styrene emission can enable processing plants to comply with relevant government regulations. Low-grade laminated resin has good hiding power for glass fiber patterns. Examples of laying methods and spraying techniques are boat building, entertainment equipment, mobile homes, house components, truck cabs, sports field facilities. In addition, the laminated resin of the shower room should be filled with alumina trihydrate (ATH) or gypsum to make it flame-retardant to meet building codes without increasing the cost. The coating method or spraying method uses gel coating, which contains polyester coating, and the surface of the coating mold is finally integrated with the laminate. It plays a role in protecting the glass fiber and produces a permanent and beautiful appearance. The outer surface. The resin used for the gel layer is isophthalic acid resin, which generally contains neoglycol, which can make the product have water resistance and weather resistance. Commonly used vacuum-formed plexiglass sheets instead of molds and gel layers. The plexiglass sheet becomes the outer surface of the glass fiber reinforced polyester composite material, and the high-grade bathtub is made in this way. Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is a processing method between the laying method and compression molding. The RTM method is better than the laying method, and the thickness can be controlled and the inner and outer surfaces are smooth. The mold cost required by the RTM method is much less than that of the compression molding method. The resin containing the accelerator is injected into the static mixer together with the catalyst, and finally enters the mold lined with glass fiber mat, and the air is discharged from the pores of the mold. The viscosity of the resin should be low so that it can be pumped. The gel time should be long enough to ensure that the mold is completely filled, but fast operation speed is required to ensure reasonable production efficiency. Products processed by the RTM method include boats, electrical shells, exterior parts of automobile bodies, and chairs. The artificial marble resin used in luxury bathrooms should be filled with high-quality fillers so as to withstand the thermal cycle test. The filament winding method can be used to manufacture chemical storage tanks and large-diameter pipes. The continuous plate-making process is used to produce flat and corrugated plates, which are used as room partitions, roofs, walls and skylights. The pultrusion method can produce profiled materials. For example, making car springs, flagpoles, chemical-resistant I-beams, park benches, and archery bows.
